Hi, I’m Shenel

  • Do you feel like you’re always caring for others while your own needs come last?

  • Do you struggle to say no or express your true feelings?

  • Do you notice that difficult or overwhelming life experiences impact how you think, feel, or connect with others?

If any of this speaks to you, you’re in the right place - and you don’t have to face it alone.

I’m a counsellor at The Other Clinic in Geylang, working with women navigating family pressures and the weight of social expectations. I help people reconnect with their own needs, manage overwhelm, and make meaningful changes in their lives.

For many of the women I work with, social pressures and family expectations — combined with difficult life experiences — have left them feeling silenced, disempowered, or unsure of their own needs.

My approach is collaborative and gentle, drawing on person-centred therapy, trauma-informed practice, parts work, and goal-focused approaches.

I support my clients with a range of concerns, including parenting and relationship challenges, patterns of unhealthy relationships, the impact of difficult or traumatic past events, low self-esteem and anxiety. I help women to explore how childhood experiences shape adult patterns of thought and behaviour, and work frequently with women who feel unseen or taken for granted.

I’m registered with the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and the Singapore Association for Counselling (SAC).

I’m a UK-qualified counsellor working in Singapore

What we can work towards

In our sessions, we’ll take time to understand and explore your situation and experiences, to clarify what you would like to gain from counselling. Together, we’ll look at what you want to better understand, come to terms with, or change in your life.

Our work might focus on:

  • Understanding yourself more deeply—including your thoughts, feelings, and patterns of behaviour

  • Making sense of your relationships, and your role within them

  • Reconnecting with your own autonomy, needs, and choices

Often people come to counselling because they feel stuck and need something to shift. If this applies to you, we can explore your motivations as well as your barriers to change, and help you gain a greater sense of control over your life.
